With half a day you can experience two distinct sides of Dimitsana. Spend the first part in the historic centre around the Clock Tower, Library and Agia Kyriaki, then give the Open-Air Water Power Museum enough time of its own. There the role of water in flour milling, fulling, tanning and gunpowder production becomes tangible.

Historic centre
Begin with a walk through central Dimitsana so the village’s steep layout, stone houses and main public spaces make sense before you move on.
Clock Tower and upper streets
Walk up towards the Clock Tower and the streets around it for a clear view of the village’s vertical layout and tiled roofs.
Public Historical Library
The School of Dimitsana was founded in 1764 and its Library was connected with it from the beginning. The present Library building was erected in 1845 on the School’s site at Agia Kyriaki Square.
Open-Air Water Power Museum
Allow proper time for the restored water-powered installations: a fulling mill and flourmill, a tannery and a working gunpowder-mill mechanism. Together they explain why water power was so important to Dimitsana and the Lousios valley.
