Papaflessas studies at Dimitsana
Georgios Dikaios, later Papaflessas, studies at the renowned School of Dimitsana.
Why it matters
It shows how the School of Dimitsana educated not only clergy, but future revolutionary personalities.
Georgios Dikaios, later known as Papaflessas, studied at the School of Dimitsana before becoming one of the most forceful clergy-politicians and fighters of the Greek Revolution. The connection places the school among the institutions that educated figures who would later shape the struggle of 1821.
The Historical Library’s museum memory also preserves objects associated with revolutionary figures, including the saddle of Papaflessas’ horse.
