Why it matters

It adds a Dimitsanite voice of documentation and historical memory to the Revolution narrative.

Michael Oikonomou, also known as Kazis, was born in Dimitsana in 1798. He became a fighter of the Greek Revolution, secretary of Theodoros Kolokotronis, judge and author of historical testimony on the Greek Palingenesis.

His presence in the Library’s historical memory shows that Dimitsana’s contribution to 1821 was not only material, through gunpowder, but also documentary and intellectual.
