The Former Girls’ School of Dimitsana
A neoclassical stone-built landmark, once a center of learning and later a courthouse.
Why it matters
The building keeps visible the importance of education in Dimitsana’s modern public life.
Built between 1898–1910 with Andreas Syngros’ donation, this two-class school followed a nationwide design by architect Dim. Kallias. It operated as a girls’ school until 1930, then housed Dimitsana’s courthouse. With a rectangular plan, central corridor, tiled roof, and ornate stone façade, it remains a symbol of the town’s educational heritage.
