Dimitsana designated a Traditional Settlement
On 19 Oct 1978, Dimitsana was designated a preserved settlement by Presidential Decree.
Why it matters
The designation protects Dimitsana’s architectural identity and turns preservation into part of its future.
Dimitsana, the historic Arcadian town above the Lousios Gorge, was formally protected as a Traditional Settlement by Presidential Decree of 19 October 1978, published in the Government Gazette FEK 594/Δ/13-11-1978. The decree both lists Dimitsana among the traditional settlements and sets special building terms and morphological rules to safeguard its stone architecture and urban fabric.
