6th Summer School for the Cultural Heritage of Rural Space
From 27 July to 3 August 2025, Dimitsana hosted the 6th Summer School for the Cultural Heritage of Rural Space, dedicated to the theme “Intangible Cultural Heritage and Tourism: Challenges and Opportunities”.
The programme brought together cultural institutions, researchers, local authorities, tourism professionals, educators, heritage communities, and associations interested in the relationship between living traditions and destination development. It examined how practices such as foodways, crafts, festivities, oral memory, local knowledge, and rural landscapes can be documented and interpreted without being reduced to simple tourist consumption.
For Dimitsana, the summer school reinforced a role that already fits the village: a place where history, education, landscape, and community memory can meet in meaningful public programmes.
