Agios Charalambos Cathedral
Historic church with dual feast days and notable stonework.
Why it matters
The cathedral reflects the post-Revolution civic and religious life of the settlement.
Agios Charalambos, built at 1832 on the site of an older church, was first dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin Mary. After a miracle, it was rededicated to Saint Charalambos, keeping both feast days. It features isodomic masonry, engraved stones by its builders, and a striking 1888 bell tower by Pyrsoyiannites craftsmen.
