Dimitsana Torch Relay 2025

On the night of 24 March 2025, Dimitsana once again illuminated its historic centre with the annual torch procession held on the eve of the national celebration of 25 March.

Students, residents, local associations, and visitors joined the procession, carrying torches through the narrow streets and creating one of the most powerful public images of the village’s connection with the Greek War of Independence. The event was marked by emotion, pride, traditional dress, and a strong sense of community participation.

In Dimitsana, the torch relay functions as a living bridge between commemoration and place. It recalls the village’s historic role in the preparation of the Struggle and keeps that memory active in the public space of the settlement.
