Architectural Heritage Event in Dimitsana

Dimitsana participated in the European Heritage Days programme with the event “Architectural Heritage – Bridging the Past with the Future”, held on 27 September 2025.

The initiative, organized by the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) with the association “Anthi tis Petras”, highlighted the value of traditional stone architecture and the knowledge of stone craftsmanship. The programme included discussion and field visits connected with important local churches, including Agia Kyriaki, Agios Charalambos, and Agios Athanasios at the cemetery.

The event placed Dimitsana’s built environment at the centre of heritage interpretation. Its stone houses, churches, public buildings, arches, and pathways are not only a picturesque setting but a record of local technique, social memory, and mountain settlement life.
