Every year, on the eve of March 25, Dimitsana is illuminated in a unique way. With the ringing of the bell, the stone-paved alleys fill with flames, torches are raised high, and traditional costumes bring history back to life. A river of light crosses the historic settlement in one of the area’s most symbolic commemorative events.
The Lampadidromies of Dimitsana began almost a century ago by the town’s students and continue to keep alive the memory of the Greek War of Independence. In the "gunpowder storehouse" of the Struggle, history is not merely told—it is ignited. The event will take place in Dimitsana on Tuesday, March 24, at 20:00.
