In the 2nd c. CE, the traveler Pausanias recorded Teuthis (at/near modern Dimitsana) as an inhabited, walled city with an Acropolis. He notes a statue of Athena with a red bandage on her thigh, tied to the local myth of King Teuthis and the Trojan War.
