Before the mid-18th century, Dimitsana lacked a formal Greek school, relying on basic education from the Philosophou Monastery. In 1764, monks Gerasimos Gounas and Agapios Leonardos founded a Greek School, securing broad community support. They built a spacious facility for 300 students with teachers’ housing, a library, and a garden.
